Finally, a course designed to do just that. START (Survival Training And Rescue Techniques) is an intensive 1-day course focuses on hands-on training and skills development. Learn important skills that can save you and your fellow firefighters if things go bad. The training is designed to be effective using tools and equipment easily carried by your firefighters.
This course is a must for new recruits and seasoned firefighters alike.
Our excellent facilities and training area allows the delivery of this program using many realistic props and scenarios.
Classroom (1 1/2 hours) Power Point Presentation and Lecture
Basic survival skills
NFPA 1500 - Standard for Firefighter Safety & Health
WCB 31.23 - Entry into Buildings/Rapid Intervention Teams
Training Ground (6 1/2 hours) Smoke Building and Props
Self Rescue Techniques
Rapid Location of Windows/Doors
Breaching Walls
Window Escapes
Wire entanglement
RIT Rescue Techniques
Searching with/without thermal cameras
Locating downed firefighters & packaging downed firefighters
Moving firefighters up and down stairwells
Rescuing firefighters from floor collapse
Extricating firefighters from confined quarters
Materials Required
Each participant is required to bring full personal protective clothing.
You may bring your own SBCA or use our MSA units.
Cost and Class Size
$300.00 per student, 14 participants per session
(Includes lunch, coffee, rescue strap, EMT shears & certificate)
Notes
This training could soil and could cause some damage to the students personal protective clothing. Due to the nature of this type of training we will not be held responsible for repairs or replacement. Following this training personal protective clothing should be cleaned and inspected.
Students must be clean shaven to ensure a proper seal of SCBA mask against face.
