Comox Fire Rescue

Prevention, Emergency Response, and the Comox Fire Training Centre

Comox Fire Rescue provides a variety of preventive and emergency services to a population of over 18,000 in an area of 16 square miles. This includes the Town of Comox, the Comox Fire Protection Improvement District, the Bates Huband Local Service Area (Regional District of Comox-Strathcona), and the Comox Indian Band. They also operate the Comox Fire Training Centre, which trains firefighters from all over Vancouver Island, and even parts of BC and the rest of Canada. The training centre is certified by the JIBC.

Back to Who We Are

I started in the emergency services as a member of Victoria Search and Rescue in 1992.  In 1994 I moved up island and joined the fire service shortly after.  I became a member of Comox Fire Rescue in 1997.  In 2011 I was hired to take over from Captain Bill Windram after he retired from his full time position.  Some of my duties include recruit training, technology implementation and general maintenance of equipment.  I am also an instructor at our fire training centre teaching live fire programs, the START program and module evaluations.

In my down time I enjoy cycling, hiking, playing music and spending time with my wife and two daughters.
