Prevention, Emergency Response, and the Comox Fire Training Centre

Comox Fire Rescue provides a variety of preventive and emergency services to a population of over 18,000 in an area of 16 square miles. This includes the Town of Comox, the Comox Fire Protection Improvement District, the Bates Huband Local Service Area (Regional District of Comox-Strathcona), and the Comox Indian Band. They also operate the Comox Fire Training Centre, which trains firefighters from all over Vancouver Island, and even parts of BC and the rest of Canada. The training centre is certified by the JIBC.

Chassis: 2024 Pierce Ascendant® 110' Heavy-duty Aerial Platform,Enforcer Cab, 510 hp Paccar MX-13

Body: Aluminum body w roll up doors built by Pierce in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Aerial Device: 110 Ft Platform ladder with the ability to produce up to 1250 GPM at the tip of the combination nozzle.

Aerial Controls:  Rear of apparatus for side and rear stabilization , Turntable Control unit all ladder and nozzle controls, Platform nozzle and aerial controls

Pump: Hale Midship 2000 GPM

Water Tank: 400 Gallon Poly tank.

Communications: Wireless Setcom headsets, or portable radio.

Ground Ladders: Full complement of ground ladders


Comox Tower 35 is a multipurpose aerial device/pumper designed for quick set up with a great 100 reach.

It has four main functions as a first line apparatus:

1.       To act as an elevated water stream.

2.       To act as a water delivery system for the first in apparatus by laying in large diameter (4”) hose and/or tandem pumping.

3.       To act as a secondary pumper with ground line (attack) capabilities.

4.        To act as a light lifting/rescue device if necessary (Basket Stretcher).
